God knows the miracle you yearn for today, and He is telling you that the key, what is essential to obtain that miracle, is in three words: Fear of God. The Bible says that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, it also says that the fear of God is the source of life, but there is a verse I read that marked my life: “To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech” (Proverbs 8:13).
To Fear God
To fear Him is to know that one day we will present ourselves unto God
and we will account for, not only the people we won for Him, but also
the words we said, the thoughts we accepted, the attitudes we had; when
you are aware of that truth, this will force you to be a different
person, to say no to sin, not to conform to small things, but be
transformed into a radical person.
I had the opportunity to write a simple book last year entitled “Twelve
Principles for the New Generation,” and I wrote it with the purpose of
seeing lives, young ones especially, with a fear of God. It is very sad
to see how today the young generations are lost because they miss that
fear of God, so they do whatever they desire, but it is even sadder to
see leaders in the church or people who have grown up in church without
the fear of God.
This is the time when God wants to lift you up, so that you will have
that holy fear, so you can make a difference in your nation. The faith,
vision, and dreams are worthless if we do not have fear of God. To fear
Him is to be a person of principles, someone who lives according to
what His word says; God wants you to be that person.
The secret is not in the many things you can do, in the many activities
you might be involved, or in going to share the gospel all day long;
all of that is important, but without the fear of God, none of that is
valuable, they are of no use because God is looking for people
according to His own heart. I know your prayer today will be: “Lord,
count on me, I want to serve you, I want to live by fearing you.”
The Lord, through Luke, said: “Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel
was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin
betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The
virgin’s name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her,
‘Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you
among women!’" (Luke 1:26-28, NKJV). When I read this text, God showed
me:
God’s favor will be with you. We know that just one Encounter can
change a life. This happens because God has deposited His favor in us.
I admire Mary because the reason she received the favor of the Father
was that she had fear of God. She was not looking for her own glory,
she stayed pure, holy, and that is why the angel told her when he saw
her: “The favor of the Lord is with you.” If you want God’s favor to be
with you, then you need to live a life of holiness.
How is your life? What are the words you confess in the hard times when
maybe you cannot see God’s blessing and you are carried away by your
emotions and start professing curses or negative words towards your
children or your disciples? Have you accepted wrong attitudes in your
heart towards God? The Lord wants to bless you, but this will only
happen once your heart is holy, set apart, willing to serve Him. Do not
think about pleasing man, think about pleasing God, then He will bless
you and His favor will come upon your life and you will be a person who
will influence the nation where He has placed you. The Bible says that
the enemy is like a roaring lion looking for his prey. To live in
holiness is not an easy way to live, it is like going against the
current, going in one direction when everyone else is going the
opposite one; but God will bless you because of that. Do not allow sin
in your church. Do not be afraid to preach against sin.
The Lord is with you. If we long for God to be with us, we have to
learn to trust and put our strength in Him, without paying attention to
logic or the circumstances. To leave our pride aside is to believe that
without God we are nothing, and then we will start looking for Him with
all our hearts. The Lord, through the writer of the proverbs, says: “…I
hate pride and arrogance” (Proverbs 8:13). My prayer is that God be
with me in everything I do. When the angel told Mary she was going to
conceive a baby, the Messiah, she asked: “‘How will this be,’ Mary
asked the angel, ‘since I am a virgin?’ The angel answered, ‘The Holy
Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will
overshadow you…” (Luke 1:34-35). She believed, had trust, did not doubt
the word of the angel and said: “May it be to me as you have said”
(Luke 1:38).
Blessed are you among women. When Mary said: “May it be to me as you
have said,” she said it because there was faith inside her heart. Just
like those people of faith and those who have done great things for
God, if you want to be a person who will impact others, you have to
love God’s word, dedicate time to it, study it, and examine it in a way
that it brings life to you. In the measure in which you do all that,
God will bring faith into your life and He will work in your character.
The blessing Mary received
She was blessed among all women because she gave birth to the Messiah,
the Savior. The greatest blessing you can have before obtaining
financial freedom is to have a family that serves God, to have your
words, attitudes, and thoughts reflecting the words of Jesus, to have
people see something different in you when they talk to you. God wants
to help you form the character of Christ, but in order to achieve that,
you need to be a person of prayer because as we pray, God changes our
nature, He reveals His heart to us, and our ears are open to His word.
Our main goal must always be: to be like Jesus.
